Abstract
The experimental determination of Avogadro's number is very closely related to the determination of the charge of the electron on the one hand and to the absolute determination of the wave-length of x-rays on the other hand. Millikan, as is well known, measured the charge of the electron directly by the oil drop method, long before absolute measurements of the wave-lengths of x-rays were attempted.
