Abstract
Richtmyer(1) has recently proposed the hypothesis that many of the x-ray satellite lines may be due to double transitions in which two electron transitions cooperate to emit one quantum. I should like to call attention to a number of known facts about x-ray satellites which are very satisfactorily explained on this hypothesis several of which facts have not yet been mentioned by Richtmyer.
