Abstract
In an earlier paper, we have presented the long-wavelength solution to the problem of the diffraction of scalar waves by a two-dimensional strip. The boundary conditions in the above solution were such that the strip was clamped. A more important problem for practical reasons is that of the diffraction by a strip with weak boundary conditions, that is, conditions for which the normal stresses vanish.
