Abstract
This paper addresses an important and complex problem, that is the effect of incomplete fine-scale mixing ("micromixing"), in the near-source evolution of fast, second order atmospheric reactions. The significance and the complexity of this problem are indeed nicely presented by Karamchandani and Peters (1987) in their Introduction and in the first part of their section entitled Problem description. However their subsequent analysis contains some serious errors and inconsistencies that we will discuss briefly in the following.
