Abstract
The problem of real-time estimation of air pollutant concentrations in an urban atmosphere based on concentration measurements made intermittently at a set of monitoring stations is considered. A square-root distributed parameter filter for a general class of dynamic urban air pollution models is developed. The filter is tested by application to a hypothetical urban area, and the effect of the number of monitoring stations on the estimated concentrations is studied.
