Abstract
One of the catch questions that pops up perennially on radio quiz shows is the old chestnut, "Is the zebra a white animal with black stripes - or a black animal with white stripes?" The answer, based presumably on Webster's Dictionary, is "a white or buff animal with dark brown or black stripes."
