Abstract
Remains of fossil fish have been found in a quarry situated on the coastal border of the Palos Verdes Hills, half a mile west of Whites Point, Los Angeles County, California. Most of the fossils occur in a silty, siliceous shale which is rather soft and easy to split; it is dark gray-brown when wet and light colored after being weathered. The outer layer of the weathered stone is brittle and breaks easily into small particles. At the same locality a few specimens of fossil fish have been found embedded in a limestone which is extremely hard and can be split only with great difficulty. It is light gray or yellowish in places.
