Abstract
We describe a new quasi-optical SIS mixer design which attempts to obtain efficient radiation coupling into the SIS tunnel junction. Devices were fabricated at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) using Nb/Al-oxide/Nb junctions, and a receiver noise temperature of 420 K (DSB) was measured at 490 GHz.
