Abstract
Accurate differential cross sections for chemi-ionization have been calculated for a twostate model representing collisions between ground state K and I atoms from threshold to 6eV relative energy using a coupled-equations method. In addition, they were also calculated using the Stueckelberg and an extended Landau-Zener approximation. The two former methods agree very well both with respect to amplitude and phase of the oscillations in the cross section, whereas the extended Landau-Zener approximation is too crude to reproduce a differential cross section. The elastic atom-atom cross section indicates that the curve crossing is mainly diabatic.
