Abstract
There have been several excellent reviews of applications of iron-57 Mössbauer spectrometry in physical metallurgy and metals physics. These reviews typically demonstrate applications of the four measurable quantities in Mössbauer spectroscopy: recoil-free fraction, isomer shift, quadrupole effect, and hyperfine magnetic field (HMF). The present chapter has a more focused goal. It shows how local, short-range chemical information can be obtained from the HMF distribution of iron-57 nuclei in ferromagnetic bcc alloys.
