Abstract
In spite of phylogenetic differences, the vertebrate (frog) myoneural junction and the giant synapse in the squid stellate ganglion have similar characteristics of transmitter release. In this article I report quantitative data on this similarity, on the roles of Ca²⁺ and Mg²⁺, and the dependence on temperature.
