Unidentified infrared spectral features

Abstract

The infrared spectra between 2 and 13 μm of a variety of objects have become available in the past few years. These spectra have shown many objects to have up to six emission features that are still unidentified. Other objects show absorptions due to ice, carbon monoxide, silicates, and two unidentified features. The observational characteristics of the unidentified features are discussed here, together with several possible identifications.
