Mössbauer study of mechanical alloying in Fe-V and Fe-C alloys
Chicago
Abstract
Mössbauer spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction have been used to characterize the microstructural changes which occur during ball milling of mixtures of iron and vanadium on the one hand and of iron and graphite on the other hand. The chemical compositions of the alloys are inhomogeneous during a large fraction of time of the synthesis. Almost all carbides and silicides may be synthetized by mechanical alloying.
