Approximate neutrality of large-Z ions

Abstract
Let N(Z) denote the number of electrons which a nucleus of chargeZ can bind in non-relativistic quantum mechanics (assuming that electrons are fermions). We prove that N(Z)/Z→1 as Z→∞.
