Abstract
In 1973 Gunnar Johannson [18] discovered the surprising ability of our visual system in perceiving biological motion, i.e. the motion of the human body, even from highly empoverished and ambiguous stimuli. In attempting to develop models for explaining the perception of biological motion we examine models developed for different purposes in two areas of engineering, computer vision and computer graphics.
