An active cistron fragment

An error occurred while generating the citation.

Abstract

An unusual rII mutant of phage T4 is described, in which a terminal portion of a cistron has been deleted without impairing the function of the remaining fragment. This suggests that the deleted section is non-essential. Nevertheless, mutations within this segment which do impair the function can be observed.
