Abstract
We assess the ability of a hysteretic cohesive-law model to predict the number of cycles to fatigue-crack initiation. Comparisons with experimental data for a 2048-T851 aluminum alloy, 300 M steel and AISI 4340 steel suggest that the approach captures salient aspects of the observed behavior.
