Accuracy and Efficiency
Chicago
Abstract
Effective seismic modeling schemes must produce synthetic data that meet both accuracy and computational cost requirements. The latter requirement becomes especially important as the number of simulations to be performed increases, e.g., 3D seismic surveys can be comprised of tens to hundreds of thousands of sources. In general, there is a tradeoff between accuracy and efficiency, and the challenge for large modeling computations is to find modeling schemes that provide maximum efficiency for the required accuracy.
