Richtmyer-Meshkov Instability at Solid-Gas Interfaces
Chicago
Abstract
The impact of a shock-wave onto a perturbed interface separating materials of different density and initially at rest in a laboratory frame of reference is described as a Richtmer-Meshkov (RM) flow, following Richtmyer [1], who obtained a numerical solution to the linearized equations for perfect fluids using an impulsive model, and Meshkov [2], who performed shock-tube experiments for gaseous materials.
