Abstract
We examine the ultraviolet behavior of a class of non-Abelian gauge theories with vector meson masses generated by the Higgs mechanism. It is found that although these theories are not asymptotically free they may, over a considerable momentum range, behave as if they had an ultraviolet stable fixed point at the origin. Such quasi-stable theories could exhibit Bjorken scaling (up to powers of 1n q^2) over the experimentally observable domain. We discuss the possible types of quasi-stable theories and the effects of the Higgs scalars, which lead to the eventual total breakdown of scaling.
