Abstract
The paper under discussion provides an accurate theoretical solution to the problem of particle deposition from a natural convection flow onto a vertical isothermal fiat plate. The solutions obtained have applications in industry and, as stated in the article, may be useful in designing systems for preventing soiling of vertical surfaces indoors, including works of art. Integration of the present analysis of a laminar natural convection flow into a comprehensive analysis of the competitive deposition processes that occur inside buildings under both turbulent and laminar free and forced convection regimes is presented elsewhere (Nazaroff, 1988).
