The Replication of Bacteriophage MS2: IV. RNA Components specifically associated with Infection
Chicago
Abstract
Phage-specific RNA components synthesized in MS2-infected cells under conditions in which host RNA synthesis is suppressed have been characterized by ultracentrifugal analysis. In addition to the 27 s viral RNA, three specific components, designated as 20 s, 15 s and 6 s are described. Physical properties and enzymic resistance of the 15 s and 6 s forms suggest that these are, at least partially, double-stranded. The 20 s component appears to be a single-stranded RNA, of different configuration from the viral form.
