The ratio of K-capture to positon emission in the decay of ^(11)C
Chicago
Abstract
The ratio of K electron capture to positon emission in the 21 min decay of ^(11)C has been measured by a flow counter technique. The counter consisted of a central proportional counter surrounded by an envelope of plastic scintillator operated in anti-coincidence. The experimental value of the Kβ+ ratio was found to be (2.30_(−0.11)^(+0.14)) × 10^(−3), in agreement with a theoretical ratio of (2.18±0.01) × 10^(−3), calculated from the K electron wave function given by Depommier et al.
