Time Constant for Phonon Induced Desorption of Helium

Abstract
We have made direct measurements of the time constant for thermal desorption of thin helium films as a function of substrate temperature and film binding energy. We find that the attempt frequency for desorption τ₀⁻¹ is several orders of magnitude larger than previously reported values.
