Abstract
Working under the auspices of the Survey of California Indian Languages, M. A. R. Barker has now produced a modern restatement which, even in unpublished form, is already proving influential in current linguistic research in the Penutian field. The present volume constitutes the first installment of his study, with a comprehensive dictionary just issued and the grammar to follow shortly. Working in similar problems, the reviewer had occasion to observe Barker in the field and to discuss with him mooted aspects of the language, and he can freely attest to the high calibre of the field work upon which the study rests.
