Abstract
As part of other investigations, we have had occasion to study the kinetics and hydrogen isotope effects of the reaction of diphenyldiazomethane with acetic acid in ethanol using the techniques previously developed for other carboxylic acids. As might be expected, the reaction of acetic acid with diphenyldiazomethane is very similar to that with benzoic acid in that it is accuratery first order in acid as well diazo compound and shows similar salt and medium effects (cf. Table I).
