Abstract
The use of fluorine-19 nuclear magnetic resonance (nmr) spectroscopy for investigation of conformational analysis has achieved considerable popularity in recent years. However, little attention has been paid to a detailed structural interpretation of the wide variation in the fluorine chemical shifts which are observed, although it has been pointed out that chemical-shift differences in a related series of fluorides may reflect conformational subtleties.
