Abstract
Rates of ring inversion of 1,1-difluorocyclodecane were obtained from line-shape changes in the low-temperature ^(19)F nmr spectra. At -135º, the free energy of activation was 5.7 kcal/mol. The results are interpreted in terms of a boat-chair-boat conformation. Possible pathways for effecting ring inversion are discussed.
