Elimination reactions of 6-bicyclo[3.2.0]-2-heptenyl tosylates
Chicago
Abstract
As part of an early attempted synthesis of pentalene, it was reported in 1951 that the reaction of a mixture of stereoisomeric 6- and 7-bicyclo[3.3.0]-2-octenyl tosylates (1 and 2) with collidine (2,3,5-trimethylpyridine) and other tertiary amine bases appeared to form variable amounts of a yellow polyene, 3.
