Proton capture on ^(14)C and its astrophysical implications
Chicago
Abstract
The reaction ^(14)C(p, γ)^(15)N has been measured in the proton energy range of E_p = 250–740 keV. Five resonances have been observed and their strengths were determined. Additionally, 5 nonresonant γ-rays were found to the states at E_x = 0.0, 5.27, 5.30, 6.32 and 9.05 MeV. The energy dependence of their cross sections can be described by the direct capture process and the low-energy tails of the broad resonances at E_R= 1319 and 1509 keV.
