Single-collision low-level vibrational energy transfer between alkanes and silica in the range 350–700 K

Abstract

Direct measurement of the vibrational temperatures attained by n-butane and n-octane after single collisions with hot silica yields accommodation coefficients α_v of 0.45 and 0.57 respectively, nearly independent of surface temperatures between 350 and 700 K.
