Magnetic field effects on charge transport through DNA
Chicago
Abstract
Our lab has performed electrochem. studies of ground state charge transport through DNA, and now we have begun to examine the effects of magnetic fields on this charge transport process. DNA films were attached to nickel surfaces and immersed in buffer. A p.d. was applied that induced charge to move through the DNA, between the nickel surface and a redox reporter. We have found that an external magnetic field has a significant effect on charge transport within this system. This information has significant implications for magnetic field effects in biol. systems.
