Levels in A³⁸ observed through the Cl³⁷ (p, n) A³⁷ reaction near threshold
Chicago
Abstract
Thin Cl³⁷ targets were bombarded with monoenergetic protons, the overall proton energy resolution being about 1.7 keV. A long counter was used to observe neutrons from the Cl³⁷(p, n)A³⁷ reaction at energies up to 0.8 MeV above the reaction threshold. The widths and spacings of 91 resonances were measured. A gross structure was discerned, believed to be related to a neutron independent-particle state near the neutron separation energy.
