Welcoming remarks

Abstract

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I extend to each of you a cordial welcome to California, to Stanford University, and to the 1977 Recent Crustal Movements Symposium. We hope that you will find the Symposium both enjoyable and scientifically stimulating. We are encouraged by the variety of papers to be delivered and by the diversity of disciplines represented by the attendees. This multidisciplinary approach to the study of recent crustal movements has been a prime factor in making the field one of such great worldwide interest today.
