Abstract
The energy crisis of 1973 brought home 10 everyone the degree to which we have become dependent on mideastern oil, In the past three years that dependence has increased markedly and the immedia1e prospect is for a further increase. That this is a serious situation is emphasized by a statement of Jimmy Carter in the presidential campaign that he would urge that a new oil embargo by the OPEC nations be countered by a complete embargo by the United States.
