The elementary analysis of threonine was carried out by Mr. G. A. Swinehart. We wish to thank Professor H. Borsook and members of his research group for help in connection with some of the chromatographic procedures. n-Homoserine and P-hydroxy+homoserine were found to support growth of the homoserineless mutant in the presence of threonine.
