Polymerization catalysis by bimetallic complexes
Chicago
Abstract
Utilizing a rigid terphenyl linker appended with various donors, a series of bimetallic polymn. catalysts has been prepd. Access to meta and para substitution allows for modification of the metal-metal distance and the steric profiles. Bimetallic complexes supported by phenoxy-imine and bisphenoxy amine ligands have been prepd. and their chem. explored with early and late transition metals. These bimetallic catalysts have shown, depending on the nature of the metal, tolerance of amines, polymn. of amino olefins, and tacticity control. The mechanism of their polymn. of a variety of monomers will be discussed.
