Abstract
Dimethyltrisulfide (CH_3)_2S_3 has been investigated by the electron diffraction method. The molecule was found to have the chain configuration, with the following interatomic distances and angles: C-H=1.09A (assumed), C-S=1.78±0.04A, S-S=2.04A, ±0.02A, ∠H-C-S=112° (assumed), ∠S-S-S=104°±5°, and ∠C-S-S=104°±5°. The results also suggest that the C-S bonds oscillate with rather large amplitude about a mean position approximately 106° out of the plane of the three sulfur atoms.
