Voyager at Uranus

Abstract

The highly successful Voyager missions to the giant planets and beyond passed another milestone on January 24, 1986, when the Voyager 2 spacecraft passed by the planet Uranus. Highlights of the scientific findings from the eleven on-board investigations are discussed. Several dozen scientific papers on these results have already been published, and detailed analysis of the data is continuing. Voyager 2's final planetary encounter will occur on August 25, 1989, as the spacecraft sails past Neptune and its largest moon, Triton.
