Abstract
There are two fundamentally distinct ways in which investment management services can be evaluated: on the basis of a proposed investment strategy or on the basis of an investment track record.Of the two, the track record is the gold standard. In King of Capital, David Carey and JohnMorris [2010, p.50] described the travails that Pete Peterson and Steve Schwarzman faced when they left Lehman Brothers, where Peterson had been chairman, to start Blackstone.
