Nonlinear optics as a probe of the mode volume of ultra-high-Q toroid microcavities
Chicago
Abstract
We have investigated both numerically and experimentally the mode volume of ultra-high-Q toroid micro-cavities on a chip. Reduction of the mode volume with increasing confinement is predicted numerically, and experimentally observed by a lowering of the threshold for stimulated Raman scattering.
