Abstract
We present a measurement of the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element |V_(cb)| and the form-factor slope Ļ^2 in B(overbar) ā Dā^(-)Ī½(overbar)_ā decays based on 460 Ć 10^6 BB(overbar) events recorded at the Ī„(4S) resonance with the BABAR detector. B(overbar) ā Dā^(-)Ī½(overbar)_ā decays are selected in events in which a hadronic decay of the second B meson is fully reconstructed. We measure B(B^(-) ā D^(0)ā^(-)Ī½(overbar)_ā)/B(B^(-) ā Xā^(-)Ī½(overbar)_ā) = (0.255 Ā± 0.009 Ā± 0.009) and B(B(overbar)^(0) ā D^(+)ā^(-)Ī½(overbar)_ā)/B(B(overbar)^(0) ā Xā^(-)Ī½(overbar)_ā) =(0.230 Ā± 0.011 Ā± 0.011), along with the differential decay distribution in B(overbar) ā Dā^(-)Ī½(overbar)_ā decays. We then determine G(1)|V_(cb)| = (42.3 Ā± 1.9 Ā± 1.4) Ć 10^(-3) and Ļ^2 = 1.20 Ā± 0.09 Ā± 0.04, where G(1) is the hadronic form factor at the point of zero recoil.
