Cricetine-like Rodents from the Sespe Eocene of California

Abstract

The Sespe deposits of southern California have yielded several cricetine-like rodent specimens. Rodent types other than those related to Paramys and its allies are rarely found in the Eocene of the North American continent. Hence, these specimens are not only of interest from the standpoint of adding new types to the Eocene fauna, but also in that they may eventually aid in the solution of the difficult and complex problem of rodent differentiation.
