On the free energy of glucose and of tripalmitin

Abstract

The theoretical maximum amount of work derivable from a chemical reaction is a quantity which we may designate as the reversible work, and which is equal to the decrease in the free energy of the system plus the change in the pressure-volume product. In the form of an equation this is: WR = -▲F + ▲(PV).
