C—H Bond Activation at Pt(II): A Route to Selective Alkane Oxidation?

Abstract

A hypothetical catalytic cycle for the selective oxidation of alkanes to alcohols by dioxygen may be based on the activation of C-H bonds at Pt(II) centers, coupled with additional known organoplatinum chemistry. Mechanistic studies on the C-H activation process offer guides for designing potential catalytic species.
