Abstract
The fullest measure of a scientist is through evaluation of the combination or the long-term impact of his specific contributions to his field and the more short-term impact or his personality and achievements on his associates and contemporaries. Paul D. Bartlett is a wonderful example of a person who excelled in bolt contexts because of how he changed and shaped current and future research in physical organic chemistry and his profound personal influence on those who worked with him.
