Abstract
The reflection and refraction of seismic waves has been studied extensively in the past by various authors. Among them are Knott (9, 10), Wiechert (13), Zoeppritz (14), Jeffreys (8), Bouasse (3), Gutenberg (4, 5, 6, 7), Berlage (1), Blut (2), and Macelwane (11, 12). The purpose of the present paper is to calculate the ratios of the energies of waves reflected and refracted at the surface of the earth's core for various angles of incidence, supposing values for the elastic constants and densities considered the most likely.
